Nkosinathi "Nitro Northwind" Madonsela is a Hip Hop artist who strives every day, to do nothing less than to make music. He hails from Witbank in Mpumalanga, and that’s where he discovered his passion for rap at a very young age. “I started writing poetry, I had a lot of poems but when I got to the theatres people told me that it not poetry yet rather classified it as rapping...They said I was spitting bars instead of poems. That was followed by I got home and I played a beat and I squeezed my poems into it , basically that's how I started to rap knowing exactly what I wanted to achieve” _nitro.

He went on to join a group from Kwaguqa called "Toys and Toes". The trio then subsequently released a Mixtape when they were in Grade 8.The perfect age for them to reflect on their lives and rap about their surroundings and ambitions. When Nitro wasn’t spending time in the studio, he would visit street cyphers to meet up with like-minded individuals and also learn the culture of Hip-Hop which helped him diversify his music and stand-out as a rapper .Following the move, his passion for music grew even stronger and opportunities started presenting themselves. In 2015 he got his first radio interview in Emalahleni FM giving him much-needed exposure and a great platform to showcase his talent.

His experience and time in the music scene can be clearly heard through the quality of his tracks which he works closely with his Producer, Hood Track to make sure that whoever listens to their songs can appreciate the work that goes into making them. Later, he released a Track Called 100Geez which got them tour major SA cities. Nitro’s music is a textured mix of urban music that is fused with turn-up club bangers and trap music which will get you moving. He has the resilience to always pushing the bar in different genres. Talking about his creative process, he said “I Usually Write about How I feel...What I've been through and What's Happening in the streets; whether it’s Social Issues, Politics Etc. I don't just go to the Studio and just write anything. Yet, I Look at What type Of Music Do Our Youth Likes The Most. Then I Start Working”.

Here are 10 things that Nitro Northwind shared during the interview:

1. “I am Hip Hop... I Walk Hip Hop...I Speak Hip Hop and I Sleep Hip Hop... Hip Hop Was The Music That I Recited To; Back then When Rappers Like Nas, HHP,Rick Ross, and Jay Z were spitted a bar; it felt like they were telling a story of my life like What I've been through and how to treat myself And how to handle what I'm going through.. So I chose Hip Hop Because I want to be the voice for the youth”.

2. “I'm working on a project that is called Dreams of Getting Paid that's going to Drop January Next Year”.
3. “I wanna bring positive vibes. It is all about positive vibes one way; I just want people to be happy when they listen to my music...Whenever they are feeling sad I want them to know that If they are going to play Nitro Northwind then be Hyped Up”.

4. “The Lyrics are Important Fam; because they tell a story. A beat is a beat Fam. What's the use of having a nice beat but your lyrics don't make Sense.... The lyric makes the beat nice”.

5. “Because music can tell a story that can change somebody Else's Life or Thoughts... Music Inspire People and Music Can bring a Certain Vibe”.

6. “I am an Indie artist”.

7. “On Radio Stations; and on popular music channels those are the platforms where I would like my music to be played. This is due to the fact that I mostly target the youth because they are the ones that love to take a listen to my music”.

8. “I can work with anybody as long as we make great music. I am not one to feature somebody just for fun”.

9. “Ready For war in one of the best song that I have ever made because it talks about me. And how I see other rappers...and how music changed my life and what I'm ready for”.

10. “What inspires my music is that most people recite to it...I would get calls of people telling me that my song has shaped and changed their life. And I would meet somebody on the street that I haven't met telling me that they get the massage in that particular track. And the most important thing is that it gets heard out here”.
